My Train Journey Experience – Patan to Delhi
Traveling by train in India is always a special experience—filled with excitement, scenic views, and unforgettable moments. Recently, I planned a trip from Patan to Delhi, and booking the train ticket itself felt like the beginning of a new adventure. In this blog, I will share my full experience of booking a train ticket and preparing for the journey from Patan to Delhi.
Planning the Trip
When I decided to visit Delhi, the first thing I checked was train availability from Patan. Delhi, being the national capital, is well-connected by the rail network. Many people prefer trains as they are comfortable, budget-friendly, and allow you to enjoy the journey itself.
I needed to travel on a specific date, so I decided to check ticket availability a few weeks in advance. Trains can fill up quickly, especially during vacation seasons, so early booking is always the best idea.
Online Ticket Booking Experience
Gone are the days when we had to stand in long queues at railway stations for tickets. Now, everything can be done online. I used the IRCTC website/app to search for trains from Patan (PTN) to New Delhi (NDLS). You can also choose Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM) or other stations near Delhi if needed.
Steps I followed for booking:
Entered source station: Patan (PTN)
Entered destination: Delhi
Selected travel date
Checked available trains and seat classes
Chose Sleeper Class for a budget-friendly ride
Made payment online and received an e-ticket instantly
The process was quick and very convenient. You can also check seat availability, train timings, and current status before confirming the booking.
Preparing for the Journey
Once the ticket was confirmed, I prepared for the trip. Since the journey is long, packing the right essentials is very important. I carried:
A comfortable pillow and bedsheet for sleeping
Some snacks and a water bottle
Power bank for my phone
Books and downloaded movies for entertainment
A jacket in case the AC gets too cold (if traveling in AC class)
I also carried my Aadhaar card as an ID proof, which is mandatory during train travel.
Journey Day – Excitement Begins
On the day of travel, I reached the Patan station around 30–40 minutes early. The platform was crowded with travelers and families waving goodbye. The moment my train arrived, I felt the usual excitement of stepping into a coach and finding my berth.
The journey was pleasant—watching fields pass by, chatting with co-passengers, and enjoying the delicious tea served on the train. As night approached, I settled into my berth and enjoyed a peaceful sleep.
Arrival in Delhi
Finally, the train reached Delhi the next morning. The hustle and bustle of the capital city welcomed me with energy and excitement. Stepping out of the station, I felt ready to explore the historical treasures and modern attractions of Delhi.
